Preservation and fragility are key words to understand the collection and choice of materials that enhance the dichotomy between consumer culture and heritage preservation. With the use of unusual handmade materials that aren't long-lasting.
The collection values the place it comes from, Earth.
The goal for the capsule collection in collaboration with LVMH - Fendi, was the launch of important pieces, that are meaningful and full of history just like a fossil.
The starting point of our journey for the Future Life Project began by understanding Fendi’s genetic past in order to understand what made the brand be known for what it is today.
The choice of materials and textile development supports the concept of slow craft and sustainable solutions that define the future of luxury.
The design and visual concept for the collection was also based on the idea of going back to the DNA of the brand in order to design for future generations. Which was also the design process for the first “IT” bag the Baguette. Silvia Venturi when designing the baguette looked back to Fendi’s heritage on luggage to develop a bag for future generations encapsulating past, present and future.
In six weeks we’ve developed a recipe for leather and textile for sustainable fur. The vegan leather is made out of potato starch and vegetable glycerin, the cruelty free fur is made out of waste scrap yarn collected from the knitting studios.
